The Quiet Beginning

Dear diary,

Well....here we are.

I suppose I should introduce myself.

I'm Jo.

It feels a little strange writing that down, as though I'm meeting you for the first time.

Perhaps in a way I am.

Ive been thinking about starting a diary for a while now. Not because I have anything particularly important to record, but because there are so many thoughts that seem to wander through my mind these days, and I'd like somewhere to put them.

A quiet little corner where I can slow down, notice things, and perhaps make sense of some of the things I've been learning along the way.

I think I've been longing for this kind of place for a while.

Life can become very loud and everything seems to move so quickly. There is always another list to make, something else to organise, somewhere else to be, or some version of ourselves we feel we ought to be becoming.

And somewhere amongst all of that, I think it's rather easy to lose touch with ourselves, I know I have.

So perhaps dear diary you can be a place for me to find my way back.

Back to the quieter parts of life, back to noticing, back to the little things that somehow don't feel so little when you really pay attention to them.

I don't know exactly what will end up on your pages, perhaps stories, perhaps thoughts that don't quite know where they are going yet.

Maybe the books I've loved, places I've wandered, things I've noticed.

Some days might be meaningful, others might be completely ordinary. I rather hope there will be plenty of both.

For now though I think this is enough.

A quiet beginning.

Until next time.... x
